September 2013
Selectors: Rose van Son, Gary De Piazzi, Amanda Joy and Meryl Manoy
This edition of Creatrix Haiku is dedicated to the memory of Dr Sally Clarke, a past Editor of Creatrix Poetry, and an Australian prize-winning poet and friend, who passed away 17th August 2013, and whose passion for haiku, senryu, and nature, gave her, and her readers, continued pleasure. Her beautiful work was widely published in many haiku and haibun journals, both nationally and internationally. Her observation and awareness of nature, the seasons and its changes, and her love of human nature enriched her fine writing. Sally gave so much to the WA writing community and will be remembered for her beautiful poetry, her kindness and her willingness to support WA poetry; she will be greatly missed.
Rose van Son, Editor
leaves sprout
from a blackened stump
charity bin overflows
small child
absorbed in teaspoons
stirring a new movement
early morning sunlight
on the nativity
a blessing
epiphylum flowers
perfume our night
hang limp this morning
red callistemon
yellow ring-neck parrot
against blue sky
dull winter day
wattle tree in bloom—
sunshine
farming—
tall turbines
gather sea breezes
she kicks off
white wedding shoes
sand between the toes
fern garden
through glass
a blue tongue lizard
orange sunflowers
in the tank
a dead goldfish
tall gum trees
at my feet
a golden skink
outside the nursing home
wires hum
mother sits quietly
