Give your voice the platform to be heard! Using mindfulness to calm the mind and step into our creative zone\, we practise wordplay games as a group to help us open up and connect. Throughout the workshop I breakdown specific skill sets of rhyming and song writing then give you exercises to practice. All the while we are collaborating\, jamming together and having fun!  \nBreak free from limitation and take this opportunity to expand your comfort zone! \nFrom the workshop you will receive \n– A supportive\, like-minded community of people. \n– Experience in freestyle rap and writing verses. \n– Build spoken word and improvisation skills.\n– Self-confidence and belief in your own natural abilities.\n– Security in freedom of self-expression.  \n– Communication skills you can practice in your day-to-day life. \n– Guided awareness to express what your body wants to say.\n– The foundations to create your own original music.  \n– A hip-hop playlist you can take home with you to practise.  \nFor the advanced rhyme practitioners  \n– Breaking down syllables.\n– Advanced rhyming patters.\n– Intention driven rhyming.\n– Freestyle challenges. \n– Melody\, harmony and flow. \n– How to marry these elements together. \nEncouraging healing and personal growth through this practice\, we use words and rhyming as a medium to express\, build a deeper personal relationship with ourselves\, each other and create beautiful music! \nSpaces are limited\, so make sure you secure your ticket before they sell out!  \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/523775738625459/?acontext=%7B%22event_action_history%22%3A%5B%7B%22mechanism%22%3A%22discovery_top_tab%22%2C%22surface%22%3A%22bookmark%22%7D%5D%2C%22ref_notif_type%22%3Anull%7D \nhttps://events.humanitix.com/word-play-workshop

SUMMARY:Invisible Walls Literary Exchange
DESCRIPTION:The University of South Australia has initiated “Invisible Walls”\, a new literary exchange for Australian and Korean poets. \nThroughout the coming two years\, 10 Australian poets will be paired with 10 Korean poets\, asking them to write a series of collaborative responses (poems\, letters\, ephemera\, etc.)\, so as to exchange thoughts relating to land\, place\, culture\, and history (and the manner in which these exert force over the emergence of contemporary modes). \nStage One of this project is now open\, and the organisers are seeking a representative cross-section of Australian poetry in all its complex diversity. Five Australian poets will be paired with five Korean poets. Any poet aged 18 years or over\, who is currently residing in Australia or who holds Australian citizenship\, is eligible and encouraged to apply. \nBetween April and September 2022\, six hour-long Zoom-based conversations will take place between each of the five pairs of poets. These conversations will be professionally interpreted. Participants are expected to prepare for these six online engagements\, and to follow up by writing a suite of texts based on their exchanges. \nEach poet in the project will commit to writing approximately 10 poems (or poem-equivalents)\, delivering these by the end of September 2022. \nEach of the five Australian poets selected will receive an honorarium (AU$600). \nTo request further information and/or an application form\, please contact Aden Burg via email (burad004@mymail.unisa.edu.au).

SUMMARY:Griffith Review 76: Acts of Reckoning
DESCRIPTION:Griffith Review 76: Acts of Reckoning is a wide-ranging discussion of the multifaceted issues at play in Australia’s fraught journey towards a full settlement with its Indigenous peoples. \nExamining questions of history\, truth-telling and decolonisation and revisiting colonial figures and their ongoing legacies\, Acts of Reckoning reframes the past in order to form new futures – and celebrates how much work is already underway. \nYou can submit up to four individual poems\, each no longer than two pages.
